Requirements
Brownies
and Juniors: Complete 8 requirements
and 2 starred.
1.
Make
a scrapbook about a hobby , a favorite singer/star or sports figure. Share your
book with the rest of the troop.
*2. Visit
your local library at least 3 times. Each time plan a different activity, such
as, meet the children’s librarian, apply for a library card, find books on a
specific topic, attend a story hour, browse and check out books. Arrange with
your library to set up a display or exhibit.
3.
Find
out how a newspaper is made. Tour the
office of your local paper. Discuss
with your troop the various careers available in the newspaper field.
4.
Write
your own troop newsletter and mail it to family and friends.
5.
Make
a bookmark, Protect it by covering it in a clear adhesive backing ie Contact
paper.
6.
Create
a storybook for a younger troop, children’s hospital, day care center or other
group.
7.
Divide
into groups and make up a skit, play or puppet show. Perform it for another group.
8.
Critique
a book, film or play for your troop. Write, tape or video a review or
advertisement for others.
*9. Create
a troop book review card file. Write or describe summaries of books you have
read and enjoyed. Include books used for badgework and troop activities.
10.
Discuss
the different popular television programs. Talk about how they represent our
lives.
11.
Design
3 book jackets for books you have read or have had read to you. Make the cover appealing so others will want
to read it as well.
Cadette
and Seniors: Complete 8 requirements above plus the additional ones listed
below.
1.
Read
3 new books.
2.
Read
aloud to a younger Girl Scout troop, siblings, senior citizens etc. on a
regular basis.
3.
Write
a poem or short story.
4.
Volunteer
to work at your local library to help children.
5.
Hold
a reading marathon as a troop fund raiser.
Purchase
Patches at GSWP when completed.
